Director’s Concept

Happiness doesn’t come from the number of zeros a salary has, the prestige that a job title carries or the fame a social media profile brings. Happiness is far more intimate than prescribed success. Happiness comes from giving love and receiving love.

This piece was created to illustrate that self-love and self-acceptance are necessary to achieve happiness. We must love ourselves before we are able to extend love or embrace love. When love is sustained and shared by both persons, happiness is found. Anything less will fall apart in selfishness and selflessness. Sustainable love is balanced love. Balanced love is where the giving takes.

I hope that you will see where love is or is not in this performance and in yourself. I challenge you to love yourself and to embrace the love that is given to you. Thank you for supporting our student festival and the return of live, in-person theatre and performance.

With sincerest love,

Jessica Light, Director
